Imp My Ride, part 1

On the road from Mehren to Vermeillon, our erstwhile adventurers were surprised and, ahem, amazed when they saw, on the road before them, a wizard appear from a golden smoking rune. Having never seen a real wizard before the team gasped in surprise and delight to have the opportunity to meet a creature of such power, and need I say charm.

He introduced himself as Amazz (pronounced just as you'd expect so that it rhymes with gaze, raise, and unfazed). Tybalt, noticing an authentic wizard, moved a little to the back of the party and Luocious was likely jealous of Amazz's svelte black and gold robes. Likely they all were.

Amazz offered the group 500 GP to accompany him and help with a time sensitive project -- he had 5 barrels of Goblin Blood Brew that he needed delivered from the town of Red Rock Hill to the city of Eastbound. He offered the team 250 gold right there, another 250 when they finished, and promised a surprise in between. The team driven by their lust for wealth and perhaps love of weird portals and road trips, accepted the offer and stepped into the rune.

Stepping out of the rune portal into Redrock Hills, our gang's metaphorical jaw dropped, when they saw what Amazz had offered: 6 Speedimps -- "unholy two-wheeled amalgamations of an artificer's wildest dream and a wizard's tempered magical prowess. Each of these steel steeds runs on the heat of a trapped infernal speed imp -- a beast of power who has been harnessed by great magical forces and compelled to propel their riders wherever they wish and as fast as they dare," Amazz informed.

Reginald, properly astounded by these, asked how they had been created and learned from Amazz that during his arcane studies he learned of Infernal War Machines used in the pits of Hell and powered by human souls; he thought it only fair to turn the tables. He sought a bright artificer and found Ekadian, who despite blowing off her arm at some point, was still clever enough to rebuild it. Amazz knew she would be able to build the Imps Ride and together they did, though soon after Ekadian disappeared along with the designs. Nonetheless, Amazz kept the rides.

Each Speedimp carried a a barrel of Goblin's Blood Brew and the team was not to drink a drop. Once they delivered it to Mayor Reynolds in Eastbound he'd provide the rest of their payment.

Our team accepted daring souls that they are and rode off in a cloud of dust. The Speedimps roared through the forested road faster than any horse. As they road they could hear the imps straining to go faster and the riders obliged them.

Soon however they ran, as they always do, headlong into trouble. While Reginald was practicing popping wheelies, he spotted a gang of goblins blocking their path and a hulking hobgoblin who appeared to be the leader. As the team neared, they noticed two things: one: these goblins were riding worgs, and two: many were missing limbs (which maybe was why they had to ride the worgs). The hobgoblin announced himself as Boss Grog, "give us our blood and beer back and we'll maybe let some of you live; otherwise you all die today."

The team was not going to risk their coin and if they couldn't drink the brew then no one could. They revved their imps and leapt into the fray. A terrific battle ensued throwing some of our heroes off their rides and some of the goblins off their worgs. Many goblins died that day and a few, including Boss Grog, escaped after heavy losses.

That evening while nursing their wounds around a camp fire, Luscious heard his bike whispering to him. Pretending that he had to relive himself he moved to Speedimp and learned that if he etched the rune for tooth (now glowing on the ride's frame) the riders would be able to communicate as they rode. Seeing the potential for this, Luocious did so.
